This book is filled with information. However, most of it contains quotes by other people, and not much contribution by the author. He does give credit to the originators of those statements, so each page has numerous acknowledgements at the bottom. A bit laborious to read, and I was disappointed.

Wise, well-written, and profound study on aging

Having read several of Paul Stevens' books, I was prepared to be instructed, challenged and encouraged by his new book on Aging--and I was not disappointed. Paul Stevens has great wisdom, and he shares it here in abundance. As he does in all his books, he carefully mines the Scriptures--both Old and New Testament--for what can be learned and applied to those of us baby boomers who are entering the "third third" of life.
Stevens argues that the Scripture knows nothing of the relatively recent concept of "retirement" (according to Stevens, Germany was the first country to institute formal retirement--in 1889), but that retirement--whether that means fully retiring from the work one has done for many years or not--can be an opportunity for significant personal growth and opportunity.

One of the most powerful parts of the book was the third section, entitled "Legacy". In that section, he encourages Christians not only to leave their material possessions through wills and trusts as blessings rather than curses (and a will can do either), but he also encourages the practice of "ethical wills"--a document (whether as a letter to one's family or as a part of a standard will) "designed to pass ethical values from one generation to another." (p. 134)

The book has, at end of each chapter, a Bible study on the theme of the chapter, and there is an excellent bibliography at the end of the book. Stevens writes in a gentle, winsome manner, and the book is really a wonderful introduction to a very difficult--but extremely relevant--topic, that will be a matter that most everyone will have to think through. Stevens "plumbs the depths" of Scripture in this excellent study. Highly recommended.

It's a book I should have read 20 years ago or more than that. It would have helped me prepare my aging process and Christian livi. I feel people in their 40's should make it a book for helping them prepare in their aging process. It made me realize I am still important and we all need each other.

This book for sure would have gotten a 5* rating if it had been a normal love triangle involving singles. But, the ball game changed for me when it turns out this couple is married & Tommy is not planning on divorcing but staying married. Missy just goes along with him so if she wasn't low before just going after him continuing is just crazy. But I have to give it to the author she brings out all kinds of emotions. Just not the best. Trying to figure what is going on with Monica what does she think will happen to her marriage if she is never home & no love when she is?

Print too small.

The story is reasonable and it's like most Golden books with one exception. The print is so small and difficult to read, it really makes the book a bad choice for bed time.

If you're reading in a child's bedroom you may have a hard time being able to read the actual words.

Extremely disappointed by lack of piano score

The obvious reaction to this review's title is: "Well, what would you expect? It's a guitar TAB edition". Let me explain myself.

I was extremely disappointed to see that NO piano has been included in this transcription of the album. The question is: should one expect it to have been? I would argue YES based on a few points:

1) This album includes plenty of piano, and piano is an integral part of the music. Consequently, there are *massive* holes in the transcription, and you end up paying quite a lot of money for what is really only half a transcription. "Good Enough" - a piano song - has the note attached "*Chord frames are suggested. There is no guitar on this recording". So you get the vocal melody, guitar chords and a whole lot of disappointment.

It seems to me to be a real half job having only half of various songs transcribed - if I were the one transcribing, I would never be happy with myself or the product.

2) Maybe I've just been spoilt before - but all the Muse "Guitar TAB editions" have all the guitar AND piano parts - because like Evanescence, the transcription would be extremely incomplete without the piano parts. If this transcriber can come to the party, then it just makes me feel that others could also - and that this is just way below par.

3) The publisher has not enabled the Amazon "Search Inside" feature - perhaps because everyone browsing would see the gaping holes, and decline to purchase this title. As I am the first to review, there was no way to know that half the music is not transcribed - and I just expected to see what I have in all my other "Guitar Tab" books - full transcriptions.

Evidently, if you want the piano and guitar - then be willing to be ripped off and purchase both versions of the albums transcription. In my opinion, this is extremely poor.

I'm not going to comment on the quality of the guitar Tab - I'm sure someone else can comment - I just won't purchase another title from this publisher.
