The App with This Book Blew Me Away!

Who knew you could have fun while reading about conflict?! I've read many books for couples and I can tell you this is one of the best. It's unique and SO applicable. Every chapter has several take-away gems that are fresh and unique. And it's built on solid research. The simple distinction between a good vs. bad fight is profound. But maybe the coolest part of this book is the app that comes with it. It blew me away. I wasn't expecting such a robust tool. It's every bit as impressive than the book. And it's FREE! I've never seen anything like it and the app makes putting the information into practice so much easier. Also, it allows you to have exactly what you need at your fingertips - precisely when you need it (when a conflict heats up). The relational payoff with the book/app combo is immediate.

I will use the book and the mobile app to launch several innovative small groups at our church. We currently use Les and Leslie's "Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts" for all our pre-marriage classes.

Amazing - Conflict not Combat

I can't imagine any couple that wouldn't benefit from this book. The Good Fight is grounded in research and unswervingly dedicated to practical application. It's fresh and innovative. The authors have a way with words and they also admit to their own conflicts and struggles. Their vulnerability, in fact, makes their principles all the more relevant and true. I especially appreciated the section on discovering your "Conflict Quotient." It's a real eye-opener. Same for identifying your personal "Fight Type." I recommend this book to every couple – whether you're just starting out or married for decades. It's easy to read and makes an immediate positive difference.

This book is a wonderful read and full of easy to do ideas that make a big impact in our relationships. The app is the perfect compliment to a book like this. Usually when we read something that has so many valuable concepts that we would benefit from in our lives, the hard part is remembering and implementing all of them. The app is a tool that makes it easy to make several of these ideas a part of our lives immediately. Usually we only have the capacity to pull one nugget out of a good read. Between the book and the app, now we can pull nugget after nugget after nugget and remember to use them.

Band Nerds Unite! (Geeks welcome too!)

Band Nerds Unite! No, really.... Shannyn Schroeder has done it to me again! His New Jam is the 5th novel in Ms. Schroeder's Hot & Nerdy series. It is full length, has an HEA and no cliffhanger. It is told from a first person POV between the two main characters. It can be read as a standalone, but for optimal enjoyment with the last three books in this series, I would suggest starting with the fourth book. They all interconnect without actually needing to be read to understand them, it just makes it more fun if you do!

I loved this story from the get go. Was in I band? Yes! Was I in marching band? No. However, the writing, and the story line within are engrossing. You get pulled into the world, and it will make sense for you.

One of my favorite things about this book? How Hunter and Sydney meet. I was beyond amused and laughing at Hunter's antics. This guy is full on trying to get one particular girl's attention and he doesn't give up about it. He's been trying for awhile too!

The chemistry between the pair simmered, but it's no so overt that that you lose the story to just that. They completely clash at first. Sydney wants nothing to do with Hunter. It's sort of a tug-of-war between them, a back-and-forth. Hunter wanting Sydney's attention, Sydney alternatively just wanting him to go away.

You'll also come to enjoy the co-characters within this book and want to learn about them. Which is great, because they have their own books!

Overall, it's a great read, that isn't too long. Engaging characters with a fun story line, and parts that will have you laughing out loud. It will also have you wanting to know how it ends. I've given it a full 5 stars.

Shannyn Schroeder has another awesome addition to her hot and nerdy series. This is the fifth book in the series and overlaps with His Work of Art (book 4). This story is about how Hunter and Sydney find their way to each other. Sydney is a talented percussionist who frustrated by sexism in the marching band. Hunter, who plays saxophone, tries to flirt with her by playing different songs while she enters or leaves the field during practice. Sydney knows he a player, but she mostly ignores him and keeps her head down. At the end of the marching season, Hunter manages to get a reaction from Sydney that their friendship/relationship progresses from their. Sydney is wary of romance and make Hunter work for her attention. Will he be able to convince her to give him a chance to be more than band mates?

This is rapidly becoming one of my favorite new adult series. Ms. Schroeder is able to create complex realistic characters that are fun to read about. I have read at least one of the previous books, and was able to see the same event from a different perspective. I loved the characters, the music and almost everything about this book. I look forward to the next. I was given a free copy for an honest review by netgalley.com

3.5 out of 5 stars, Sydney has dealt with a difficult dating experience and knows that she never wants to be with a man who will treat her that way again. So, when Hunter, a college senior and lead saxophonist in the marching band, singles her out and majorly flirts with her it makes her leery. She thinks he's hot and as they get to know one another better through their love of music she trusts him better, yet Hunter seems too much like her ex-boyfriend. And Hunter will do whatever it takes to prove to her that he is the man for her!

This sweetly erotic novel keeps you on your toes with its quirky characters and fast paced plotline. I was intrigued with Hunter with how he goes about winning over Sydney’s affection one serenade at a time. In addition, I liked how they came together as a couple. Nevertheless, I wish Sydney’s POV wasn’t portrayed as harsh as it was and that the ending had an epilogue.

Overall, I do recommend this novel to those looking for a quirky New Year’s Celebration New Adult contemporary romance!

Must Read For Anyone Getting Into The Music Business!

I rarely offer feedback on a book. However, this is truly a great read. I began as a singer, musician in the early eighties. I have learned much of the business via osmosis, some of it incorrect. This book is deep. If you are new to the business or a veteran trying to REALLY learn the industry, plan on reading this book more than once. The chapters require a good understand of previous chapters to absorb and benefit the material. I discovered great insight for the least amount of investment I have ever spent in the music business.

A Book Worth Its Weight in Platinum

I as a baby-boomer who has had made music an important part of my life "The Plain and Simple Guide to Music Publishing, 2nd Edition" has enabled me to feel better about not having accomplished a significant success in the music business, and in the process lost the best of my intellectual property. My life as a singer songwriter began in the early sixties having been inspired by the folk music revival and the explosion of many popular music genres that permeated our culture. My bio would mirror the historical patterns quite well: I performed in groups and solo in folk, rock, jazz and country through the years. My best opportunity appeared around 1965 when the manager of a now successful artist wanted to record one of my songs after listening to it on a stoop on MacDougal Street: I asked the artist should I trust him and his response was nebulous so I didn't go to the recording studio. Until I read The Plain and Simple Guide to Music Publishing, 2nd Edition I regretted that one, and similar decisions that I had made.

A 1A draft status, tech school, enlisting in the Army later anyway, a rocky marriage conspired to altered my path relegating my passion to write songs to a back burner. Through the years I continued to accumulate songs and even attempted to do something with them from time to time, but, an inner paranoia always kept me protective of "my stuff". After college and a second attempt at family life I thought I had learned enough to become my own publisher and record label owner: and this seemed to finally get me heading in the right direction -- another big BUT however -- I spent more on equipment, professionals and such that I found it difficult to see black ink and then I had a son born with a serious heart defect.

I chose to attend to family matters for the next 25 years -- family became the priority.

Now in my sixties I have been re-inspired because of Randall D. Wixen's book: The Plain and Simple Guide to Music Publishing, 2nd Edition. Thank you very much Mr. Wixen. My paranoid protecting of my songs may have lead to meager success thus far, but my MUSIC IS STILL MINE and I can pass it on to my son. And, I still have time to put things in order and give it one more shot at "song writer's heaven"; all because your book has crystallized what I had learned on my own through experience, AND, filled in blanks, AND, has brought me into the present as far as the business realities are, AND, (lastly) your book has put it all into so concise and understandable a guide, that my hopes for accomplishing my life-long dream is better that ever.

About the Author
Maciej J. Capiński is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Applied Mathematics at AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków, Poland. His interests include mathematical finance, financial modelling, computer-assisted proofs in dynamical systems and celestial mechanics. He has authored ten research publications, one book, and supervised over 30 MSc dissertations, mostly in mathematical finance.

Ekkehard Kopp is Emeritus Professor of Mathematics at the University of Hull, where he taught courses at all levels in analysis, measure and probability, stochastic processes and mathematical finance between 1970 and 2007. His editorial experience includes service as founding member of the Springer Finance series (1998-2008) and the Cambridge University Press AIMS Library Series. He has taught in the UK, Canada and South Africa and he has authored more than 50 research publications and five books.
