This early work by Maurice Leblanc was originally published in 1908 and we are now republishing it with a brand new introductory biography. "The Blonde Lady” sees Arsène Lupin (the gentleman-burglar) once again meeting his enemy, the English detective Herlock Sholmes. These two great intellects are bound in opposite directions, where one chooses to abide to the law and the other uses his power and wits to crime. Maurice Marie Émile Leblanc was born on 11th November 1864 in Rouen, Normandy, France. He was a novelist and writer of short stories, known primarily as the creator of the fictional gentleman thief and detective, Arsène Lupin. Leblanc spent his early education at the Lycée Pierre Corneille (in Rouen), and after studying in several countries and dropping out of law school, he settled in Paris and began to write fiction. From the start, Leblanc wrote both short crime stories and longer novels – and his lengthier tomes, heavily influenced by writers such as Flaubert and Maupassant, were critically admired, but met with little commercial success. Leblanc was largely considered little more than a writer of short stories for various French periodicals when the first Arsène Lupin story appeared. It was published as a series of stories in the magazine 'Je Sais Trout', starting on 15th July, 1905. Clearly created at editorial request under the influence of, and in reaction to, the wildly successful Sherlock Holmes stories, the roguish and glamorous Lupin was a surprise success and Leblanc's fame and fortune beckoned. In total, Leblanc went on to write twenty-one Lupin novels or collections of short stories. On this success, he later moved to a beautiful country-side retreat in Étreat (in the Haute-Normandie region in north-western France), which today is a museum dedicated to the Arsène Lupin books. Leblanc was awarded the Légion d'Honneur - the highest decoration in France - for his services to literature. He died in Perpignan (the capital of the Pyrénées-Orientales department in southern France) on 6th November 1941, at the age of seventy-six. He is buried in the prestigious Montparnasse Cemetery of Paris.

Don't buy this edition - incredibly small font for the book!!!

The 1 star rating is for the publisher not the book itself. The book is awesome - like all the books in the Arsene Lupin series.

However - it's printed at font size 8 or 9. So it's incredibly difficult to read. I'm young and with good eyes so it was a pain reading it but i coped. But really - DO NOT buy this particular copy of the book. I've never seen a book printed with such a small font in my entire life.

Dr Raj Kamal is currently Senior Professor, Devi Ahilya University, Indore. A PhD from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi and post-doctoral research fellow of Uppsala University, Sweden, he has about 44 years of experience in teaching and research. A prolific writer, he has authored over 10 textbooks and published over 100 research papers in journals of both international and national repute. Besides mobile computing, his other areas of interest include embedded systems, computer architecture and organization, microcontrollers, and Internet and Web technologies.

So far looks better than what I had in high school (90's)

So far looks better than what I had in high school (90's). About to put my senior through this. There is a workbook that goes alone with it and lots of online resources in the book. There is also chapter tests and section tests that can be taken on line (there is a web sight and code to enter after each section and chapter) and then scored instantly.

Be sure you have the right book

This was purchased for a lost school text book replacement.

I had to find the seller off line and confirm the isbn #s,publication year, and the color of the cover. There are quite a few editions and even revisions within same publication year as well as by state & teacher editions.

The publisher used the same front cover with color variations for multiple publication dates making finding the book by looks and year published (see above) a challenge as many vendors use stock photos.

I finally got the version I was looking for but had to purchase a wrong book first (it was listed by wrong isbn-there are two). Was never able to find out how to contact sellers on Amazon to ask questions but many use the same handle off site and even sell books on multiple sites making them easy to locate. I returned to Amazon to make the purchase after confirming the book info via email.

Just a warning so you don't have to jump through too many hoops to get your book.

The best book for lean implementers

This temendous book is the best book I have read on the specifics of TPS so far, and the one closest to it's elusive spirit - it's an absolute must read for any lean implementer. Far beyond the description of tools, it's a brilliant attempt at giving a feel for what TPS is truly about. For instance, there's a lovely story of one of the authors looking at a westerm traditional automotive assembly chain. At some point, he spots a problem with a carpet in the cars being assembled. Instinctively, he looks for the andon cord, before reminding himself that, of course, there would be one. Then he points out the defect to the supervisor, who answers, that, yeah, he's right - they'll probably spot it at rework and deal with it. Should they talk to someone upstream? Not necessary, the previous process is probably aware of the problem and trying to do something about it. The author then describes his moment of total anguish at seeing a defect go through the process and not being able to do anything about it.

This, I believe is a reflection of the true TPS spirit. I know a plant manager who used to work with Toyota before chosing to come back home and take a local non-Toyota plant. The first thing he did was set up an andon board. At first, he was puzzled to see the lights never went off. Then he realized there was nothing, but absolutely nothing in the current social system of the plant that would make the operators trigger an andon signal, or the management react to it. To implement TPS, everything had to be constructed from scratch.

The Toyota Way Fieldbook is far more than a companion to The Toyota Way, which is a great management book about Toyota. The Fieldbook goes explicitly into some of the least described aspects of TPS: the development of people thorugh constant problem-solving. The Fieldbook describes both techniques to follow people development, and problem-solving processes which are, in my mind, at the heart of the TPS. I can't recommend this book enough to all readers out there who struggle in trying to implement lean without access to a sensei. This won't replace the sensei, but it's the closest thing to it.

The Lee Miller section is good, but not very convincing

It is an interesting analysis of Riefenstahl's Gertrude Stein's, Lee Miller, and Janet Flanner's fascination with Hitler, and how they wove him into the structure and narratives of their own lives. Gertrude's Stein's relationship was somewhat ambivalent, even though she did promote him for the 1934 Nobel Peace Prize. As a Jew it didn't make very much sense but then most of her writing doesn't either. She's an esthete whose politics were very much shaded to the right, thanks to her close relationship with Bernard Fay, supporter of Petain and anti-Semite. She survived the War thanks to Fay and her attempts to get her translations of Petain's speeches published by Cerf in America. The Lee Miller section is good, but not very convincing. The Riefenstahl section was a rehash of the usual leftist line(ala Susan Sontag) and a lot of nonsense about cinematic semiology.. She has a very poor writing style, drenched as it is in feminist jargon. Still, I would say that it is an intelligent book and worth looking at. after you've read Pages, Rhiel's and O'Sickey's collection of essays in Riefenstahl Screened. Also read Barbara Will's book, Unlikely Collaborator's, which is a more in depth analysis of Stein's relationship to Bernard Fay and her support of Fascism. To be fair, the book says at the outset that it is only focusing on specific terms of the relationship between dictator and artist, so I can't fault her for paring down her information. My problem with the book is that I find that most feminist prose to be off-putting, though they do have a perspective worth reading. Interesting ,though, how she doesn't spend much time discussing Lee Miller's relationship to her father, who took countless nude photos of her form childhood on. He seemed to me to be the ultimate patriarchal tyrant.

There is a release in the power of forgiveness!

Hated Without A Cause is a more than an overcoming testimony. The power of forgiving is not for the other person but for you. I use to feel like I needed validation from people who hurt me. I wanted them to know that they had hurt me and to take ownership for it....right before I read the book....God told me that I was free from the hurt and the pain that I had been holding on to...it no longer held me captive. Reading Hated Without A Cause was confirmation. Mrs. Cooper is a living testimony. I truly appreciate her for sharing her story with us. She has truly shown "it is not what you go through but how you come through......MAY GOD CONTINUE TO BLESS HER AND HER FAMILY......WE LOVE YOU MRS. COOPER!

I must say, I have never read a book that kept my attention and sparked all of my emotions like this book. I was sad, I was angry, I laughed, I cried, I yelled. It is simply amazing. I hidden gem. Get this book today. My 19yr old who never reads, read the entire book in one day. She turned off the TV and couldn't pull herself away. It is just that good.

Seth enjoys speaking, writing, and can be seen running in mildly bizarre obstacle courses such as Warrior Dash in search of illustrations.

Excellent Engaging Biblically Correct Intelligent Yet So Fun

Excellent book by an excellent author. My kids LOVE it and the book is absolutely Biblically correct! Written with an engaging and fun sense of humor this book imparts complicated Biblical truths in a fun and easy to understand way that is very appealing to my teens!

Love This Set!

I ordered and read the Daniel version of What We Believe. My husband read it, my daughter is reading it and I purchased another copy of both Daniel and Revelation to send to my family. These books are very well written. They are easy to understand they they contain little allogories throughout the books. Great place to start your prophecy study. Then move on to God Cares I and II.

So far so good. This author teaches in such a way it is easy to understand. It is a very well written book and a very Biblicial account. God has blessed this man with wisdom and understanding of His word. Kelly
